Incredible Cambodia...

Assalamualaikum and Hello everyone... MD is back with some stories about Cambodia.... It was a great family trip for the Y2011. Usually, we will be having our annual family trip just like two three years ago. But Cambodia will be the first country that we bought so many things and just for our small business... It was fun.. We did managed to visit some old places like Killing Fields of Choeung Ek and some of their museums.

Kingdom of Cambodia

Kingdom of Cambodia

Central Market
The souvenir vendors are all back along the central entrance walk - offering curios, statuary, handicrafts, silks, t-shirts, postcards etc. Book and map vendors sit to either side of the main entrance.

Some foods sells at Central Market

River Cruise
Short river cruises and sunset cruises along the Phnom Penh riverfront are easy to arrange and offer an interesting view of the city. A tour cruise typically takes about 1-2 hours and runs up the Tonle Sap River along the central riverfront area providing a picturesque of Royal Palace, National Museum and parks.

Russian Market
There are several jewellers and gold sellers but it also carries huge selection of curios, silks and carvings. It is one of the best market in town to buy fabric and it offers the largest selection of VCDs, DVDs and CDs of the traditional markets.

For me, the most interesting places that you should visit would definitely be Killing Fields - Here is the devastating reminder of the torturous and barbaric reign of the Khmer Rouge. Thousands upon thousands of men, women, infants and children were transported here from Security Prison S-21 after being detained and tortured. A Memorial Stupa, built in 1988, displays the remains of human skulls arranged in age and sex behind glass panels. A memorial day, 9th May of each year is held at Choeung Ek.

National Museum
The distinctive rust-red National Museum next to the Royal Palace was dedicated by King Sisowath in 1920. Over 5000 objects are on display including Angkorian era statues and other artefact, most notably the legendary statue of the 'Leper King'.

Till we meet again in next chapter... Have a great holidays....
